History of the Lansdowne Cup
In 1999, to honour our shared heritage and passion for rugby, The Lansdowne Club commissioned the Lansdowne Cup, crafted by Waterford Crystal, and donated it to the Australian Rugby Union. The Cup symbolises the proud and competitive rivalry between Australia and Ireland.
Since its inception, it has been won nine times by each nation, with one drawn series. Over the past 26 years, 306 players have had the privilege of competing for the Lansdowne Cup each contributing to the rich history and enduring spirit of this contest.
